Spanglish Chick is dedicated to our girls – our women for they will always need a page to go to. One can find pop culture, entertainment and lifestyle trends here … but what is it that opens our eye to them? It is the story of the woman as she is talented, independent and cosmopolitan. Life should inspire, be optimistic and make one see things in a different light. So maybe it can challenge you like me; you will see things differently both in yourself and the world. Founder & Writer – Eloisa Castillo aka Lisa is the Spanglish Chick. She spoke Spanish ‘til the she began to go to elementary school. She moved from Houston at the age of 13 to live in Malaysia for two and half years. Then headed back to the United States … back to Texas.
She graduated with her BFA in Dance from SHSU then on to UH to get her teacher’s certification. She has been teaching for 15 years and at this time she has worked on Dance companies, film projects, and PR for different band and events.
While working on her book she decided to begin this website … with good friends Tamara and David who are some very talented and creative people she knows. In the end it all comes together.

Editor, Contributor & Writer – tamara is a multi-cutural Latina who grew up on Houston’s working class east side. “i lived in the loop when it wasn’t cool to live in the loop.” she loves to write in lowercase (she sometimes likes to break journalism rules after all those years she couldn’t), she appreciates balance in her life and she can be heard saying ,”i’m sorry, i just have a low tolerance for bullsh*t” before dealing with asshats.
after receiving her degree in journalism and working in the corporate world for more than a decade, she decided to change things up … tamara is now a freelance writer, teacher, contributor and editorial consultant. although she’s mere steps away from being a crazy cat lady (she has two), you may find tamara cracking jokes with her son, toasting with a glass of wine, watching True Blood reruns, indulging in lip gloss and eating veggie pizza … classy we say.
